I am going to Guatemala in October for the third time. I am ten years old and have a three year old and eight year old brother. I miss playing with the kids in the village and think about them often. I can't wait to go back.

Hola from Guatemala. Our trip is going smoothly. Did I happen to mention the fact we had a small earthquake last night. Now if you are from the south no earthquake is small. Billy came running out of his room in a panic screaming like a small child .

Anyway the village is doing well despite nearly two weeks of constant rain which made a total mess out of the road. This has delayed construction of the sixth house but the footing and corner braces have been finished and hope to lay block tomorrow. The children were very happy to see the group and have enjoyed the crafts and games that were brought. Today was our so called off day many of the women went to the orphanage, while some of the men went to play golf. This is when Billy , David, Jason, Will and the Great Booba went to Pastor Jorge’s village to deliver 9 water filters and spread the love of Jesus. After our visit the 5 of us went to the Volcano Pacaya for a five mile horse ride and twenty mile hike (well maybe 2 mile horse ride and mile hike, which took Billy over and hour to complete). Anyone who does not believe there is a God needs to climb an active volcano and see his power.

Sub heading

All in all friendships are still being built and strengthened. Firefly’s light is growing brighter in Guatemala thanks to all of you and most of all thanks to Jesus. Continue to pray for our safety and that we be used mightily by God.

March 2010 Trip Day 1

The day started at 5:30am. We all ate breakfast at 7 and caught a very full shuttle to the airport at 7:30. Before breakfast was probably the hardest part of the entire trip in saying goodbye to the kids, probably one of the hardest things I've ever done and to top it off right before the shuttle was leaving they step on the bus and wave and tell us they love us, as Billy says my allergies kicked in at that moment.

Remember I finished day one saying He never promised it would be easy. Well there is no need to talk about how much sleep most of us got because it wasn't much. The buses (chicken buses) start running about 4 am, dogs bark all hours, roosters are insomniacs, and I'm not even sure what some of the noises I heard were but I'm pretty sure somebody was in some pain. Other than that the night was peaceful. I think a big part of it was that I was in San Lucas, Guatemala on a mission trip. Breakfast this morning consisted of pancakes, fruit, and omelets. The omelets were packed with salsa, onions and cheese. Trust me if you like salsa you will love Guatemala. Everything was good and it was a good start of our day with Bro. David leading us in devotion time.

Well today is our last day to visit the village. Our breakfast today was eggs, oatmeal, fried planteens, black beans and some type of sausage in hot sauce. I actually liked the sausage and planteens but black beans - no way Jose.
